The Polish flag is not one of the most famous flags, but many people are able to tell it for what it is because it is certainly one of the simplest. In Poland it  is mandatory for a citizen to hang up a crisp-looking flag during the holiday season. It is considered very offensive to hang up a soiled or faded flag. There is a fine for not hanging up a flag, but there is a much heavier fine for hanging up a flag that isn't good-looking.
